Cosplay has experienced an enormous boom in recent years. A hobby that
actually goes back centuries and got its
name in the 70s of the last century; how is it that the last 10 years in particular have seen such growth
?
The word “accessibility” describes the growing trend quite well. You can now buy beautiful
cosplays of popular characters for very reasonable prices in many
versions all over the internet.
But there are two sides to every coin. In this lecture, all
sides of the trend towards fast fashion in cosplay will be examined as neutrally as possible. Topics
such as the environment, quality, price and privilege will be addressed. At the end,
will reveal alternatives and tricks on how to get around the
fast fashion trend with little skill and budget.
